Take-Home Pay Calculator Australia
This after-tax salary calculator covers every major deduction Australian employees face: income tax, the Medicare levy, HECS/HELP student debt repayments, salary sacrifice to super, and the Medicare Levy Surcharge for those without private hospital cover. Switch between 2024–25, 2025–26, and proposed 2026–27 rates using the tabs above. All calculations run instantly in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
Australian income tax brackets (2024–25 & 2025–26)
- First $18,200 — tax free
- $18,201 – $45,000 — 19c per dollar
- $45,001 – $135,000 — 32.5c per dollar
- $135,001 – $190,000 — 37c per dollar
- $190,001+ — 45c per dollar
The proposed 2026–27 cuts reduce the 19% rate to 16% and the 32.5% rate to 30%. The Low Income Tax Offset (LITO) reduces tax by up to $700 for incomes under $66,667. Most residents also pay a 2% Medicare levy.
What is a HECS/HELP repayment?
HECS-HELP debt is repaid through the tax system once income exceeds $54,435. The ATO withholds an extra 1%–10% depending on income. You don't need to know your exact debt balance to estimate this year's repayment — just tick the checkbox above.
Non-resident tax rates
Non-residents don't receive the tax-free threshold. Tax starts at 32.5% from the first dollar up to $135,000. No Medicare levy applies. No LITO.
Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS)
Higher-income earners ($93,000+) without private hospital cover pay an additional 1%–1.5% on top of the standard 2% Medicare levy. Taking out private hospital cover removes the MLS.
